Leisure Education for Exceptional People

Leisure Education for Exceptional People (LEEP) enriches the lives of hundreds of individuals ages 8 years of age and older with developmental and intellectual disabilities through inclusive recreation, sporting, and healthy living opportunities. This includes activities/events/programs on evenings and weekends that are held at LEEP’s recreation center as well as some that take place in the community. Activities/events/programs are designed to enhance the quality of life for LEEP participants by providing structured settings with staff. Most LEEP participants live in Mankato, North Mankato and St. Peter; however some participants come an hour or more from home to participate in LEEP.

2. Confident
3. Never give up

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why? Superpower of Disabilities & Knowledge. To educate others so they would understand that those with disabilites are more than their disability. We are people, friends, sons, daughters, hard workers & worth getting to know. We can enrich your life more than you know.

What's your running mantra? I like to listen to music to help me stay focused. I also know this helps me give my all as I see the finish line & I give it my final kick. Be you first & foremost.

Do you have a favorite running tip or piece of advice to share? Have faith in yourself & believe in what you are doing. If you can practice do so & if not do small things to prepare. Do let others bother you if they pass you up. Remember you are doing it for you & what you are setting out to accomplish. Find your zone & stick with it.

Why are you committed to helping this particular charity? I want to be a voice for LEEP so other fully understand that LEEP is more than you think. What I receive from LEEP outweighs what I give. Acceptance is the key as our disabilites do NOT define us. LEEP understands this & I want the community to see & understand as well. #Nolimits

Is this your first time participating in the Mankato Marathon? If not, which races have you ran? No. I have participated in all three of the races, Full, half & relay.
