Covid 19 Update – June 1, 2020

The Mankato Marathon is scheduled to be held as planned!

As our team continues to plan for this fall, we understand everyone is concerned and wondering what the fall running event schedule will turn out to be. We know many have been training hard for an event that ended up being cancelled or postponed to later this summer and possibly into the fall. We are doing our best to ensure you can still rely on the Mankato Marathon as a steadfast option in October.

Our team is diligently following the appropriate guidelines and procedures to follow regarding running in groups and putting on events.

As we have learned the COVID-19 pandemic has not been predictable by any means, so we have been working with our partners and stakeholders to develop contingency plans that are based around your continued health and safety while still offering a great experience in our community. This plan provides options so that you can feel comfortable about registering, training for, AND participating in the Mankato Marathon, while we continue planning.

  • Event registration remains open. Spring pricing for all events has been extended a final time through July 31st.
  • A virtual event option is being considered. An announcement will be made as soon as the logistics and details have been worked out.

In the meantime, we are considering a variety of race weekend scenarios to ensure that the event will be held in a safe manner and within the guidelines for mass gatherings. Some of these options include but are not limited to: limiting pre-race and post-race gatherings, no bag/gear check, capping the number of participants, restricting spectator access, etc.

We continue to meet with the City of Mankato and our Medical Team to discuss all options to ensure a safe event for everyone involved. Should we not be allowed to execute the 2020 event as currently planned, you will be informed immediately. Otherwise, we will continue to communicate with you through the Mankato Messenger enewsletter, website, and social media channels.

Again, the Mankato Marathon is planning for in-person race activities the weekend of October 16-17.
